All you have to do is have a counter to it at the ready at all time and you're safe. Deck, that revolves around Hog, yet has no card able to support it efficiently. Let's see the most forcing issue: the legendary 2.6 Hog Cycle. Thus, people often struggle to counter that card. As far as I'm concerned, the concept of building card existance is hardly forgotten in the "midladder territory". That's the easiest and most straightforward method to counter this card. The other issue is that Hog is meant to be met with a building. For those of you who do think Hog needs nerfs, why? To sum up everything I’ve said so far, Hog decks stay balanced without Hog Rider itself needing any changes. The most popular hog deck as of right now will be receiving a nerf as Giant Skeleton’s getting an HP nerf. Even the #1 user of this deck (Ian77) ended up making a video on why he switched decks This deck ended up falling out of the meta after this. The fourth nerf to this deck (and the nail in the coffin) were the Log and Earthquake tower damage nerfs. I’m pretty sure this was also the time that Hog AQ 2.8 cycle with cannon gained lots of popularity and was the new strongest Hog Rider deck. The third nerf to this deck was the Valkyrie HP nerf. While this deck still remained popular, it was not nearly as strong. The second nerf to this deck was the Tesla hitspeed nerf and the Fire Spirit AOE nerf. This deck still remained quite popular with Ian77 and some others finishing quite high. The first nerf to this deck was the Tesla lifetime nerf (35s to 30s). All of these cards were once considered OP cards of the season and happened to be used in the same deck. This deck had Tesla, Fire Spirit, Earthquake, Log, and Valkyrie.

Let’s look at Hog EQ 2.8 Firecracker as an example of an extremely popular and strong hog deck that has since been balanced. Tesla and Valk were used in Hog decks a few metas ago, as they were considered overpowered and were nerfed. The strength of Hog decks does not rely on the strength of Hog Rider itself, but rather, the cards of the season.įor example, Giant Skeleton (an actual OP card) is used in Hog Rider’s most popular meta deck of this season, while Mighty Miner and Mortar (two very strong cards this season) are used in another. For those of you who complain about his winrates being deflated by noob 2.6 players, he has a balanced win rate of 49% in the top 100. He’s used slightly more than average, but wins less games on average. To start off, hog rider has a 12% use rate and a 46% winrate in grand challenges. I’ve seen numerous complaints about Hog Rider being too overpowered, which I completely disagree with.
